Here's Ruby at 10 months...36 lbs. This is her first snow. She
loves to play soccer. Since the ball is a little too big to get in her
mouth she has learned to retrieve it by rolling it with her head!
She's getting very good at it. With the wet snow rolling the ball
was like making a snowman. That is the soccer ball at her feet in both
photos. It just got bigger and bigger. Despite the snowy
face, she was having a great time. The non-snowy photo is Ruby at 6
months...waiting to play. She's a great dog! Thanks Birdwalk. Tom H.
Snickerdoodle is doing great. He is very smart, and he's great
with the kids. He even turned out to be a good watchdog. He
might run away from danger while he barks, but at least he barks.
:>) We are very happy with our puppy and with our experience
with Birdwalk. We've told several people about our wonderful
breeder in Tennessee. Thanks. Pat B.
Hi Lucile: Bailey is doing great. We enrolled him in
puppy kindergarten and have been going for 3 weeks now. He's
about 10 pounds and has such a great disposition. He hardly barks
but loves to steal Oliver's (our 5 year old) shoes and socks.
Oliver is having a blast with Bailey. I'm still in the dark ages
so I don't have a digital camera but I'll email a picture to you at
some point. Oh yeah, you might
remember that we picked a Labradoodle because of my allergies. I
am happy to report that I have not had even the slightest allergic
reaction to Bailey. And my allergy doctor said I could never have
a dog! You and I fooled him. Chris
Hi Lucille, I know you wanted your dog owners to stay in
touch. These are a few pictures of Ray. He is the smallest
male in the litter born to Sam and (I forgot the female's name...maybe
Midnight). Litter was born Nov.11, 2003. Ray is now 9 mos
old. He was 8 mos., "beaching it" in these photos. He weighs
about 30 lbs. Tall and lean! I thought you might like to know
this info. since you were trying to breed some pups on the smaller side
using the 9 lb. grandad we saw. Looks like Ray may max out at 32
to 35 #. He is a great dog...I have friends interested in a
pup...same size next year. Take care, Courtney
On Memorial Day weekend I received a wonderful retirement
gift---one of your labradoodle puppies! She has been such a
delight to our whole family-my husband, myself, our grown children and
our grandchildren. Her wonderful disposition, playful personality
and insatiable curiosity have been a constant source of entertainment
and wonder to us. We just wanted you to know that this puppy is
in a home where she will be loved and appreciated. She is a
smart, happy girl! We would like to give her a chance to grow up
for 2 years then perhaps let her have one litter of puppies before we
have her spayed. When the time comes, we will contact you for
advice. Until then, thank you for this welcome addition to our
family. We have named her Gracie. We will send photos so you can
see how she is growing! Gracie's new mom, Sandra B.
Hi Lucile: I just wanted to drop you a note to tell you that our new
Labradoodle, Bailey, is doing fine. My 5 year old son and I took
him to the vet on Monday and everything went well. Bailey has
adjusted well to our family. He appears to have a great
disposition and loves our 5 year old son. Thanks for everything.
Chris R.
Hi Lucile, here are updated pictures of Bella and Sierra. I
have to tell you I went to a doodle romp in Massachusetts yesterday.
Most of the doodles were multi gens. Well Bella stole the show.
Everyone commented on how beautiful she is. National Geographic
was there filming a special. They chose 3 dogs out of about 25-30 to
feature as representive of three sizes. Bella was chosen. I was so
proud. The special will be on the National Geographic chanel. They are
sending me a postcard in advance to let me know when it will air.
I will let you know so you can see it and if you don't have that
channel I could send a copy to you. I just had to share with you
that Bella is a star in more ways then one. Talk to you soon.
Kelly, Sierra and Bella
Hi Lucile, We are having a great time with Watson, our new puppy. He
did just fine in the car on the way to Mi, and survived all the
attention from all the grandkids and their friends. He is doing quite
well with potty training and seems quite at home with us already. I
think he has a wonderful temperament, as you said, and is incredibly
cute and smart. I have taken him to the beach, and he loves playing in
the sand and running at the waters edge. I have a feeling he will soon
be jumping right in! Thank you for your patience with me in figuring
out all the details. Will keep you posted on his progress. Jan H.
Hi Lucile, This is the latest photo of Beau. He is already
well trained at three months. We are so happy with him. His
disposition couldn’t be better. Give our thanks to Sam and
Velvet. Regards, Michael and Judy
Hi Lucile, Snickers is probably the smartest dog I have ever had.
I've had good dogs, and fun dogs, but he is the most precious and
that's
saying a lot. I thought my first Golden, Zippy would be the dog to
measure
all dogs by. Snickers is proving that to be not so. He responds very
well
to positive reinforcement. We have had a ball with him. Eileen
Hi Lucile: I just wanted to touch base with you and let you know
that
Bosley is doing great. We bought him from you back in March (you
flew
him to virginia) he was from a litter that was born on Jan 10,
2003. He's gotten very big. Almost 5 months old and 50
lbs! He's going to obedience class and is doing very well.
He has a girlfriend in the
class and they spend a lot of time "flirting". I was contacted by
Jan with questions about our doodle. She indicated that she is
purchasing
a pup from you (July litter) I told her that I would do business
with
you again in a heartbeat and that everything went very smoothly.
I
can't thank you enough for sending Bosley to us! One
more
thing. I would love to get in touch with the families that took
Bosley's
littermates. Is there any way I can get in touch with them?
Please
let me know. I haven't seen any other doodles in our area.
Thanks
again!
Sharon
Lucile: I promise I won't write you every day and there's no need for
you to reply to this, but I wanted to let you know how amazing this dog
is! First of all, he's got the most delightful personality and
temperament. Second, you've done a wonderful job socializing him
and getting the crate training going. I had heard horror stories
from my friends about getting up with crying pups all night long, how
they can't hold "it" for more than 4 hours, etc. Our guy goes all
night without a peep! He's even going in the crate on his own for
naps during the day. I LOVE THIS DOG! Thank you, thank you,
thank you.
Jennifer
Hi Lucile: We named him "Bosley" or "BOZ" for short and he
is adorable. He made quite an impression during his flight
and I must have heard 10 times before getting out of the airport how
cute
he is. We opened the crate door in the car because my daughter
couldn't wait to touch him. He just flopped out and put his head
on her lap. He's not the least bit timid and seems to catch on to
things very quickly. He's had a few accidents which were our
fault and not his. He doesn't fuss at night about his
crate. I must admit that I slept on the couch next to him the
first 2 nights which probably wasn't even necessary. We've worked
a deal that if he pees outside he gets a reward so now he pees, turns
around, sits and then looks at my pocket for the treat. ..... His
paws are HUGE!!!! I can't wait to see how big he gets. We
spend most of the time laughing at him because he's so goofy.
He's
clumsy when he walks which I attribute to the massive size of those
paws.
He sits on command and is beginning to raise his paw to shake. I
can see he's going to be the star of obedience class which we have
every intention of signing him up for! He loves the tags on
things...his ball, the stuffed animal we got him and mostly...the tag
on his doggie bed.
He drags it all over the family room. We were thinking of
submitting
a video of him to America's Funniest Home Videos because when he drags
it, its bigger than he is and it looks like the bed is moving all by
itself. Anyway. I guess you can tell that we're thrilled to
have him and
he has already become an important member of our family. I can't
thank
you enough!! I'll send pictures and keep you updated....
Thanks again! Sharon
Dear Lucile, I just wanted to give you an update on how Lilah is
doing. She is as sweet as she is smart with just enough spirit
mixed in to keep us on our toes. While she is not 100%
housebroken yet, we are really getting there. She only has
accidents at the door. She knows sit, down, and stay. Last
night we were playing and she was barking (in play). Each time
she barked I said 'speak'. Today when I say speak she barks each
time! It is amazing. It is like
she is practically training herself. My husband has had NO allergy
problems. We could not be happier with her. Thank you so
much for matching this wonderful dog with us. All the best, Rachel
Lucile, I thought I'd drop you a note since Clara's first birthday
has come and passed.... She's just a charmer. Clara is absolutley the
happiest creature I've ever met. She's ALWAYS happy. She's an
unbelieveably
well-behaved dog, when I ask her what she has in her mouth she doesn't
even think twice about letting me check it and gives it up without
argument.
She adores my daughter; her favorite time of day is when I call her in
from outside to wakt Carly up! She LOVES outdoors. Sunday when it
snowed
she was outside for most of the day. Slept like a log that night!
Definitely
a snuggler and lover. Clara has charmed my dogwalker's family -
sometimes
I think they think she belongs to them - and my own parents. She was
especially
good over Christmas with lots of people in the house. Her first year
has
been really good. She is a well loved dog and we are some well loved
owners!
From the Hills family.... Hi Lucile, well, he is great and his name is
Charlie. Slept most all of the way home... seemed to take to our amily
with no fuss at all, like he'd bee waiting for us! What a happy little
fellow, you picked a good one for us - thanks! He is eating well, had a
vet check on Friday and all is well. He is very sweet and patient and
happy. He has adjusted very well to the invisiblee fence, in fact
he really "got it" in about a day. Lucile, you sure gave us a smart dog
- are all of your dogs like this? We are going to do puppy classes
because I want some help in him learning to not jump etc - he is so
playful he just can't help himself. He caught on to ringing the
bell to go outside in about two days - no kidding. Thanks for the
tip. And, he's up to 17 pounds now. He has
such lovely long legs and a sweet round fluffy face - we love him
From Kristin .. Ozzy is doing very well. .... she has learned to
sit, stay and come in just a few days and is such a sweet puppy. She is
typically rambunctious and loves to use the kids as playmates... the
more excited they get the more worked up she gets... at night she loves
to just lay on our vents or with us on the couch. So far no shedding
and
no smell at all... Some friends have a Lab puppy the same age and we
took
Ozzy to ploay with him a few days ago. I was shocked at the amount of
hair
that puppy was leaving everywhere! They also have to clean it up before
it
comes in from outdoors because of all the stuff from the yard she picks
up
(grass, sticks, burrs....) - I am very happy to have chosen a Doodle!
Ozzy
got a clean bill of health from the vet and weighs in at 12
pounds
now. We start puppy kindergarten soon to fine tune the training.
