Hi Lucille,
Thought I would attempt to email a photo or two and let you know how Jet is doing. He is, thanks to your help and all those conversations, the perfect dog for us.  He is incredible with all children, loves everyone, keeps all the work men around the house (still under minor construction) entertained when allowed and is a huge hit with our extended family, including the 90 odd lb. Labradoodle. We started puppy agility class, as Jet seemed to love challenges and he LOVES it!  He looks a little odd amongst the Dobs, Aussies and Shelties, but boy, does he perform.  And, at a little over 4 months and less than half the age of most of the dogs, does incredibly well.  We've started puppy obedience class, as well, even though we've had a good start at home and he does well, there, too - just not as much fun.  I am starting to look into the therapy dog idea for later. In case people ask about the sleeping with someone idea, he has slept in a travel crate (though the size changes!) next to my daughter's bed and has slept through the night from day one.  Recently, she spent the night at a friend's house and he was still fine on his own.  She also had a sleepover party with 4 girls when he was about 3 months and Jet would love to do that all the time - but still, he slept all night! He is going to be a big one! He  went to the vet at about 16 weeks and was over 12 lbs. We think he'll be about 25 lbs., which is fine with us - and he doesn't eat that much!  Everyone thinks he is a Portugese Water Dog - there is a  11 week one in puppy class and I was sure that it was Jet's brother.  Oh, he also loves all of the Doberman's at the trainers (there are a ton of them).  Couldn't figure it out until I remembered you telling me about the one you own who thought she was his mom! Anyway, you get the idea...he's happy (you were also right about LOTS of toys - but no chewing on our stuff :)  ) and we are happy.  Thanks again, and feel free to give out my email to anyone who has questions.  My husband (who is gaga over Jet) tells everyone that if they get a cockapoo, to talk to you.  We are so glad we didn't go with someone locally who hasn't done this for long.  Christa Gallopoulos

Hi,
We have a puppy from your litter out of Happy and Rusty, born in February. (He flew into LaGuardia on April 16) I just wanted to let you know how absolutely delighted we are with him.  "Sammy" became an instant part of our family.  I was told you had an uncanny ability to match a puppy and family--clearly this is true.  Every single thing I said I was looking for in a puppy, Sammy has.  He is sweet, gentle, very mellow most of the time, yet loves to play when anyone in the house is willing. Our Dane, Foster, adores him.  They were instant best friends.  They look like Mutt and Jeff, they play together, eat together, and nap together during the day.  (Sammy still sleeps in a crate next to my bed a night because he still doesn't quite know that he is only supposed to go to the bathroom outdoors.  He sleeps through the night in the crate and wakes me at about 6:30 am).    We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for this wonderful addition to our family. As a follow up to my telephone call to you about  the ear problem we were having, we just changed vets and I believe that we finally have it under control.  It is remarkable that even that didn't  hamper Sam's incredible disposition. Regards, Marilyn, Jamie and Ali

Lucile:
We named the puppy "Corona" and she is a rip. Her personality is perfect--always looking to play--and actually pretty gentle with the teeth for a pup. Our other dog, Pepper kept his distance and growled to keep her away for the first few days. He didn't want to take a chance hurting hur trying to defend himself so he kept away. However, on Tuesday nite he just decided all was OK and they played (chasing and "pecking" each other) on and off all night. It was easy to predict that Corona would sleep through the night--and she did. Thanx for everything, as Corona is everything we were looking for when we decided to add a member to our family. - Hal

Lucile, Just wanted to let you know my puppy - Ruby is doing very well. She is the cutest dog alive - at least I think so and she has a sweet personality and as bright as a button. We have finished our fist 6 weeks of pre -puppy school and the local trainer who has  a waiting list for you to work with him has asked Ruby and I to join his private training group which meets once a week for additional fun training- we thought that was great compliment to Ruby's intelligence and personality.  She has made so many friends and impressed so many people by her beautiful color and looks that I have a possible 2 other folks that might want puppies.  Anne

Hi, Lucile and Dan.  Our new puppy has settled in just fine!  His new name is Scooter and he is adored by all.  I am taking him to the vet in a few hours for his check up.....Overall he is doing great!  His first night was actually very easy - I'm sure he was exhausted.  The second night was rough for him, poor little thing, but last night he did beautifully.  We got up around 3:00am - he did his business outside immediately, and pretty much went right back to sleep until this morning at 6:30 am.  He could not be any cuter! The house is quiet today because the kids are back at school and I think he is enjoying the peace and quiet - he is resting nicely in his crate right now. That's all for now.  Thank you both again for the extra effort in getting him here.  Lynne

Lucile, just wanted you to know that Petey, the little cockapoo I from you  Jan. 29th is doing great.  He was Crystal and Biff's black/silver male pup. He is growing fast, has long legs and a longer nose than my Simon (also one of Biff's pups from 1999), and is turnign more silver but has darling black  ears and a soft curly coat.  He is very energetic and all puppy and after a bit of an adjustment for my Simon they play very nicely together and seem to  enjoy each other a lot.  Petey has great temperment just like Simon and I  wanted you to know I appreciate your wonderful breeding that results in such  great pups.  Petey, as is Simon, is wonderful around guests and children,  barks very little and is a sweet little guy.  Thanks for another good boy!  Cathy  Tulsa, OKlahoma

Hey Miz Lucile, Sitting here on a really crummy WI spring day watching the back to nature antics of Knox and Tybee. They have been hard at work emptying two plastic pots of dirt-most of which will find it's way inside! Between the two of them they are able to drag the pots to a "better" spot and then dig like bats out of hell! They both look like brown bears at this point!! Tybee has also managed to get a string of outdoor lights off a bush and is now romping gleefully with her new accessory! They crack me up.  What great dogs- we love them dearly, mud and all. Both went through their eunech surgery with flying colors, contrary to popular myth, the surgery has done nothing to "calm" them down. Hark I hear Knox' bark, must want to situate himself on the furniture for a quick clean-up! Whenever I'm out walking them I besieged with admiring comments on how cute etc. they are, I think I'll start taking them with me to meet eligibles! Anyway, they are the bright spots on this dreary day and I just had to let you know what great dogs they've become. Thank you thank you. Patti

Hi Lucille and Dan, All is well here. Bentley is doing just fine. He is now thirteen weeks old;I can hardly believe it! Time goes by so quickly when you have a new puppy in the house. I am so pleased with your temperment testing...you were right on target about about him. He is such a wonderful puppy.  I appreciate you all being such caring breeders. It is so enjoyable having a good healthy, fun, and loving dog. I hope that all is well with you all on the farm. The trip from Florida to Tenneessee was well worth it and your farm was so beautiful. You all have made me so happy. Harriet Raffo

Dear Birdwalk Farm: I just wanted to let you know that our Sparky is a year and a half old and he is doing great in our very loving and active home.  He goes for long walks every day and has a big yard to explore and run.  We all get such a kick out of his antics.  Thanks so much for sending him our way.   Susan F

We have only had Buddie since March of 2003 and I wouldn't trade the dog for  anything.  Not really being a dog person or growing up with one, I have  taken this on with pleasure.  Buddie and I have been going to training  together for a while.  We have successfully passed basic and advancd  obedience, CGC...   Agility is  where we should really be.   Buddie has been great in the hospice situation.  We have worked with  retarded children hoping to make it to the hospitals for cancer patients. Buddie is wonderful with them all.  I JUST LOVE THIS DOG.  Can't say enough about its temperament and ability to  learn.  My dog groomer said it is the best cockapoo she has ever met. Thank you for providing me with such joy. PS Buddie spent Halloween with the retarded children dressed in a tuxedo and  top hat.  He was the hit.  Robyn I.

Well, tomorrow Gabby will be nine months old!  She now weighs in at 12 pounds....the weight gain has slowed down, so maybe this is as big as she'll get.  She's very sweet, but certainly has her "puppy" moments.  Still takes things, especially underwear and socks, and is currently barking her head off at something only she is aware of.  Has learned things very quickly ... potty training, sit, down, paw, etc.  We are very, very happy that we got her...have even talked of getting her a "brother or sister", but, for now, will be content with her.  And she and the cat are real pals....quite cute together.  Thanks again!  Hope you've had a good fall and are ready for winter!  Sincerely, Mindy T

Hi: Just to let you know that Muffin (her final name!) is doing extremely well.  She settled in quickly and we are all enamoured by her delightfully sweet  personality!  Hershey, our chocolate lab, is a little jealous but we're  trying to make a big fuss over her as well.  Muffin is quite happy to be the  submissive one, lying down and showing her tummy whenever Hershey comes and  tries to be assertive.  All-in-all a delightful pup.  Wendy

We became
the owners of 2 extraordinary cockapoo dogs in July  of 2001.  Mind you, I drove to Tenn.(Birdwalk Farm) from CT. with my 2 kids  with all intentions of bringing home 1 dog!! Well Lucille made me an  offer we couldn't refuse!! Both of our girls were 8 weeks old, one  buff & one red. They were not from the same litter, but have been  inseparable sisters ever since. We could not be any happier with our  puppy girls! Peaches & Muffin are their names and they are the  smartest most well behaved dogs I have ever owned (I am a shade over  39-hehe) They are both crate trained, and both dogs ring a bell to go  out for their business.   My kids are 12 & 16 and they love their  pups!! In our opinion- BIRDWALK ROCKS!!! Linda K.

Hi there - It has been about eight months since Sadie was born, and we felt it was time to send you a picture of her and give a brief update.  We could not be any happier with her, she has truly become a part of the family.  Everybody that sees her thinks she is adorable, which is of course what we think as well.  We spent a considerable amount of time investigating and searching for the ideal dog for us.  One of our concerns was the shedding of most dogs, and really wanted a dog that does not shed.  We recently bought some new furniture, which she is welcome to lounge on at any time, and the picture attached shows her in the new chair, which she happens to sit in more than anybody else.  The best part of this story, is that after she gets up, there is no hair left in her place.  We are so thankful we were able to find you and bring Sadie into our family. Christopher Tauscher

Hi Lucile, I wanted to update you on our wonderful puppy, WoodRuff, (Woody for short).  He is now 6 months and has just graduated from puppy kindergarten.  He is doing great and we really have been enjoying him.  He is such a clown.  I am enclosing a picture.  He is so cute and such a great personality!   Thank you so much for sending us such a little sweetie. Judy and Dave Chico, Calif.

Hi - Lucy enjoyed camping with us, exploring the woods and swimming in the creek.  This morning she will have her first grooming and is scheduled for spaying in September.  She still weighs only 11 lbs, but she is strong, sturdy and active.  The three things she loves most is swimming in the pool, swimming in a puddle and rolling in her water bowl.  She is sweet, loving and quickly learning obedience.  She will sit and stay.... Hi Baileys, "The Kid" named himself Rowdy on the way home from your house.  He is growing by leaps and bounds, eats very very well, loves his crate, knows what to do in the yard, and has a voracious appetite for fingers, toes and ear lobes.  He is loaded up with personality and sweetness. He is also brilliant.  We are enraptured, can you tell? A picture is attached.   He plays hard, but is always ready to accept being put in his crate.  We're still working on a "routine". His new best friend is the neighbor's Golden Retriever.  She's so good with him, but when he gets too rough, she pins him to the ground with the side of her head. Keep in touch.  We love him so much we're talking about a second one of these days. Jean, Ken and Rowdy

Lucile,   I hope you are able to use this photo of ROSIE as part of your Cockapoo Alumni Club.  Rosie was born in May 2001, the daughter of Midnight and Biff.  She's the pup you sent by air to SF.  We picked her up and brought her to  Humboldt County in Northern California.  Rosie, by the way, is a real prize.  She's a 28 pounder, very smart and very affectionate.  We love her!!    It has taken us this long to get a photo where you can see something of  her face.  I've been trying for over a year to get a photo good enough for  the Alumni Club.  This is the best one we have.  I hope you can use it.  Thanks for breeding such a wonderful dog.       Sincerely,      Janyce

Hello - Max has been here a week and I just wanted to let you know that we acouldn't havve wished for anything more. Max is being the perfect puppy. He is so mellow and such a great snuggler. He loves to be held and is going great with his housetraining. He is definitely the cutest, sweetest and smartest puppy. My neighbors all love him. I've already been stopped by a few people to aks me where we got him and I have passed on your name to them.... Thank you so much.... The Haslams

Hi Lucile! Just thought I would drop you a line to say THANK YOU! For such a beautiful puppy.  I have never met such a well-adjusted dog.  He’s smart, funny, a quick learner, well balanced, loves to cuddle and loves to romp!  He’s is just SOO PERFECT!!  He has adjusted very well to family life here at the Marks’ home.  You’d think he’d lived here for years!! You definitely have this down to an art!  What a gift! Thanks for everything!  If you ever need a reference…feel free to refer anyone to me.  I’ll tell them about the wonderful puppies you bring into the world!! Cheryl

Lucile, Well, we made it home! Sebastian is ADORABLE!! and SWEET!! He is really really really a beautiful pup. When we got him home it was raining, so we put out newspaper and he knew just what to do. We can see how well he's been cared for-thanks so much.

Hi, Lucille,  Update on Maya…10 weeks, first of all, she is brilliant! She loves clicker training. Sometimes, she looks at me like, OK, I’m bored, let’s do some training for treats. I only give her pieces of the puppy dog food and she is thrilled. She can Sit, Stay, and Release after giving eye contact. She does this when we take her outside or out of her crate. She can "high five". She knows "down". Today she marched in beside Gary with the newspaper in her mouth. She had the proudest look and body posture. She loves people and other dogs. When we take her out to do her "Business", it can often involve 30 more minutes when another dog walks by and wants to play with her. She just loves that and spends and equal amount of time being top or bottom dog. She walks loose leash for the most part on our walks around the neighborhood. She slept through the night from the 2nd day here and goes to her small shipping crate for bedtime at night. She licked the Vet all over and then went to sleep on the vet table for the rest of the puppy inspection. One time she was playing with Gary in the living room. She got tired of the game and went into the dinning room. We keep the newspapers for recycle in a basket there. She pulled out of piece of newspaper and dragged it into the living room and dropped it by her toys. Then after some minutes she pulled the newspaper away from the toys. She walks to the middle of the paper and peed! Now for another great part… I have a small hair salon in my home at garden level. When a client come in, I let her greet them and then I put her in the 24 inch crate that you suggested and put it at the doorway facing me in the salon. She just plays with her toys or takes a snooze. She did this from day one. Neither hairdryer nor the vacuum bothers her in the least. No crying or whining. It’s amazing. My clients are very impressed!  Thanks from the bottom of my heart, Mahdi

From Julie  Hi, Lucile!  Just wanted to send you a personal note to let you know how much we adore Brutus.  He is a wonderful little guy and as you know, I would head back to Tennessee in a heartbeat to get another one.  He is a bright, personable little guy, who is wonderful to all he meets.  He is definitely a mama's boy but loves everyone else too!  I don't know if you remember or not, but I was devastated by the loss of our previous cockapoo, Dusty.  Brutus has helped to fill that void more than you can know.  We still miss Dusty, but Brutus has taken over our hearts completely.  Everywhere we go with him people comment on how beautiful he is and what a wonderful temperament he has.  He is wonderful with old, young and the handicapped and as young as he is, he knows what kind of behavior is expected of him in each situation.  He is patient and loving to all of those who come into contact with him.  You and Dan should be commended for you abilities as breeders.  I hope in the not to distant future to get another one (Brian says I spoiled this one so I don't know how soon that will be).  If not, we will definitely be back down to get one for the girls once they are on their own. Thanks again, Lucile!

From Jessica - Peanut and his toy havesurvived just fine.  I can't get over how little he really is. He is absolutely everything I expected and a lot more!  Peanut is a very happy pup, he came right out of the cage and the first thing he started to do was lick me.  After that he licked the whole family. He was finally released to us at 5:30.  He really did look well.  I held him the whole way to Manteca.  When we finally got home, he got to play in the backyard a little.  He played in the house chasing the kids the rest of the evening.  While we were putting our kids to bed, we put Peanut in his crate.  Let me tell you, he protested very loudly.  I think he has had enough of  the crate for one day!  Of course, we held him till he finally closed his eyes.  Being the sneaky parents we are, we slipped him in his crate while still asleep.  I just want to thank you so much for a lovely puppy, I knew he would be, you have been a pleasure to know.  I will send you pictures of this little guy tomorrow.  I will keep you updated on him too.  Take care and you will hear from me soon.  Jessica

From Ron - Just wanted to let you know that the puppy is doing great.  We had our first Vet visit and she got a clean bill of health.  The Vet said he couldn't believe how well she behaved and told me I got a very good puppy.  "Mimi" made herself at home and I have had no problems what so ever. Thank you so much for bringing Mimi into my life I don't know what I ever did with out her.  I am even thinking about getting another puppy from you to keep her company while I'm at work. Thanks Ron

From Maureen - Hope all is well with you! I don't know how you do it with all of your little doggies! I was worn out the first 3 weeks with Sydnet. Thngs are much calmer and she has full reign of the place. She is such a joy! She has all the comforts of home - I will forward some pictures. I have had a trainer for her for the last month and he said she is very smart and one of the cutest. The vet loves her too. She's finished with her shots and she been housetrained since the 3rd week home. Has plenty of toys and makes me laugh so much, she is such a ham. I love her paws and how they hang over the side of the sofa or chair. Cockapoos are really the cutest dogs ever. Will be in touch - all the best! Fondly, Maureen

From Carla
- Just a note to tell you that Zoe's check up went very well. The vet was very impressed with her. We are all absolutley smitten. She is doing really well and slept through the night without a bathroom visit! The boys love her and she is so good with them. We visited with family the day after she arrived and she merely went from person to person being held. She is definitely Queen Zoe! Again, thanks so much for everything. I am definitely going to reommend your farm to anyone looking for a dog.

From Ginny -
Well, all I can say is that deciding to bring home a second cockapoo has been wonderful. Scooter has quite settled in and taken over, within the bounds that Puffin gives her! We are indeed becoming a pack of three. She is adorable, smart as a whip and charming the pants off of everyone in her path. Passed her vet visits with flying colors and was the youngest in her obedience class.... and the last class ended with Scooter showing off her "targeting" skills to the rest of the class. She graduated with honors! Thank you for all of the effort you put into matching us up, and having Scooter fly in a year to the day of losing Mom just made her arrival all that more special, let alone giving me a major boost in getting through that anniversary. You can keep up with all of her antics since she has her own webpage....http://www.puffinstuffny.com/scooter1.html
When we all go out for a walk head turn - I've got quite a pair of poos now as Scooter so perfectly compliments Puffin. Life is indeed good.

From Kate -
Ms.Bailey-THANK YOU,  THANK YOU!!!!!!  I cannot tell you thank you enough!  She is the sweetest little girl in the world and so beautiul.  She arrived safely, her crate was cold, but when I finally reached in to get her from the crate, she was warm.  I wrapped her in a blanket and my mom came down and drove me home so I could hold her.  She slept the whole way home.  You are right she loves to kiss and is Miss Personality.  She loves toys!  She has so much fun playing!  The cutest thing is I let her outside, and she follows me...when I walk she walks, when I stop she stops!  I do feel bad though, i have all hardwood floors and when she walks she slips...it is cute though~  Again thank you!  It is kinda scarey buying a puppy with not ever seeing her, but like your website very accurately says, you breed for families.  She seemed to have no problem adjusting to me or others.  I have had so much company and she is not concerned, in fact often times when I am talking, she falls asleep in my arms!  Little cutie is a bundle of joy-I will keep you posted and send pictures, when I get them developed!  Kate

From Debbie....
Hi! The varmint is just great!  We ended up having to stay in a motel on the way home from your place.  (Time just flew while we were there -- didn't realize that we were with you for four hours!)  He slept almost all the way home - great idea to have the vaccination! He's been to the vet and got the thumbs up.  He has been amazingly good.  Of course he's a brat, but we're both very impressed with his progress.  We ignored his protests from his crate at bed-time on the first night.  He settled after about 20 minutes or so.  (Tough to ignore a shrieking puppy, but we stuck it out).  The past two nights he has not made a peep when we put him in his crate, until the next morning, when we were ready to take him out.  Amazing.  I had to clean up a mess on the kitchen floor only once yesterday.  I switched to giving him scheduled meals as opposed to demand feeding, because the first day wasn't very successful with predicting his elimination habits.  This way we go outside after a bolus meal, and he poops out there like a champ.  We may switch back after he realizes that outside is the place to "go". We find he's a fast learner, and is very co-operative.  We think he's just great and is so adorably cute.  He's sleeping on my lap as I type.  Time to put him in the crate so I can hop into the shower.  Yes, he'll shriek.  Oh well.  Thanks to both of you for spending time with us on Saturday, and for being so accommodating and most of all, for such a great puppy!  And we loved your farm!  All the animals, the beautiful setting -- loved all of it.  And we really like all of your dogs -- all of your dogs are such nice dogs.  We were especially impressed with the Dobermans - such lovely personalities.  Oh, I took your advice about giving him a swat when he's not listening (biting), and it works.  I used an empty paper towel roll -- it's hollow and makes a noise, but doesn't hurt.  Well, it got the message across. No means no. We're having alot of fun with our little Benji!  Debbie

Hi Lucile
, Just wanted to give you an update on Gizmo. Gizmo is getting well adjusted to his new home and growing fast.  He demands to be the center of our attention, an extremely friendly dog.  He loves to meet people and very actively seeks their friendship.  He loves to go to my son's school and plays with every kid in the play ground.  Absolutely refuses to come back from the play ground.  He eats well, sleeps well....  He is a joy to my son, husband, and myself. Rekha

Hi Lucile
- I wanted to drop you a line and let you how Slyder is doing. He is  a gem! I cannot tell you how smart this little guy is. He just had his rabies booster today and weighed in at 10 pounds - and absolute joy! Slyder not only can do all the usual dog tricks - sit, donw, shake, roll over - but he will sit in front of the kitchen sink and bark to let you konw he needs more water or wil lhang out where his treats are kept and throw in a trick of you look in hopes of a goodie! And he is the first dog I have vern konwn that you can point in a direction and instread of staring at your finger he will go in the direction you are pointing in! Makes it great when playing and I'm being lazy - point to his ball and off he goes! I cannot thank you enough for him - he is such a part of our family and loved by all!
Sharon M, Pennsylviania

Ohhhhhhh Lucille
,  She is my best cockapoo fantasy come true.  She is no worse for the wear after a long day traveling.   She has eaten and played with all of her new toys.  She is running all over the house.  My house is part tile and part carpet and she goes sliding on the tile.  Also, I have many mirrored sliding doors and she thinks there is another dog here and keep running up to the mirror and pouncing on it.  Too funny.  I never had a pet that paid any attention to a mirror.  She is full of energy!!!!!  She explores around the house and then comes and finds me.  We are bonding already.  Thank you thank you thank you for sending her to me.  I love her already and she comes and sits on my lap when I sit on the floor.  I am still trying to figure out a name I wanted to see her personality first.  So far the leading contenders are Gracie, Sophie, Daisy and Peaches came to me tonight since I've seen her (webmaster's note - Peaches won).  I am hoping she will tire out soon as it is 1:15 am.  Friday she is going to see my favorite vet who took such good care of my Cody girl for 10 years.  I will keep in touch and be sending lots of pictures.  I am sure glad you decided not to keep her but let her come to live with me in Florida.  The adventure begins.............she sends you her love and kisses!!!!!!!!  Best always, Kathie who now knows first hand for sure that cockapoos RULE!!!!!!!!!

Dear Lucile, Just to let you know, the beautiful puppy arrived safely and is very happy - his name is Sparky.  He adjusted to all of us instantly.  He is such a doll and we all fell instantly in love.  He had no trouble warming up to any of us........loves to play and be held and eats up a storm.  Thank you so much for all of the support and guidance through everything.   I will write again as the days go by.   Thank you for sharing one of your puppies with us. Susan

From Jane - I returned a little while ago from the vet and Molly checked out 100%. She didn't find any fleas, ears are fine, weighs 3 pb 14 oz and looks great. What a doll. The vet kissed and fussed with her - everyone thought she was so cute! (she is!).

From Amy - I just wanted to let you know how great Rex is doing.... he is such a wonderful dog. We had a big green belt behind our yard and I take him out there all the time. As soon as he hears his name he comes running full speed, and it doesn't matter if there are kids, other dogs, cats, anything. He will stop what he is doing and come running right back to me. He will "leave it" like a pro, whatever it is whether it's a bone or whatever, he drops it and scoots right back. Of course I do get that sad little look to say "aw please, mom...."  Thank you for your love for these little guys. Rex means so much to us and maybe even more now because we appreciate so much more having him now.

From the DeRosa family.... Muffin is now a year old and is as perky as she can be. She is the light of my life. This summer we went on vacation to PA and NY. She met all the family and pets. Loved it in Pa there she had Rocky, Flipper they became her play mates not to mention a few deer fawns. Then there was Fred and Ethel they are cats just loved running all over the house. Then we went onto NY to visit my oldest son there she found Shadow the cat it took a few days but she won her heart. We drove and she was just great. Not thrilled with the 18 wheelers but managed to get over it. My daughterdaughter in law gave her a birthday party on June 21 her 1st. As you can tell we are nutty when it comes to our furry friends. Muffin is all of 6lbs now. And wins hearts all over. When my senior group comes over she is in 7th Heaven but she is fair gives time to all. She goes out in the yard and loves to take a toy with her and runs. Right now she is not thrilled that school has started and I have to go back to work but again she adjusts. I will be sending you a picture of her shortly. I would like to thank you for letting me have the joy of Muff. And that is what she is a joy. She can be a clown when she wants to be. But she know when mom is tired and just wants to relax. I take her school to visit with our special ED class and she took to the children right away. I have been asked to bring her again. Again Thank You  Mrs De Rosa

From Kay A. ....Just wanted to let you know "Pinky" arrived safe and sound.  Evidently the plane ride did not affect her at all.  She was ready to play the minute I opened the cage.  She rode in my lap all the way home.  We got her home and fed her and had to give her a bath (she had an accident in her carrier).  We dried her off and she was ready to go again.  She is asleep in my 10 year old son's lap right now.  Thank you so much for everything..... Kay.

From the Janeczko family - Dear Lucille- just a note to update you on Molly... She is just wonderful.  She now weighs (still) 6.5 pounds- she was spayed last month (she did great)   Molly is going on her first vacation with us to South Carolina. We are all looking forward to bringing her.  She just loves the car so I dont see any problem there... I promise to send a picture when we return so you can post her on your website- I think you and everyone else will agree- shes just the cutest!  Shes pretty much housebroken- she sleeps in the bed with us- we just adore her. Thanks so much for such a wonderful "dog person" .

From the Smethhursts:
Hey Lucile, Cooper is the best dog in the whole world. He is currently recovering form his little man surgery and doing well. He wiehgs in at 24 lbs and seems to still be growing a little. I've attached a photo-- please post it on the site if possible - I would love people to see how adorable he is... Leah

From the Weyants
: Just wanted to give you a quicdk update on Rexd. He is so great, we took him to puppy training class this last weekend and we were floored. It was like he had been through it all before. He got everything right away, better than the whole class. It was the same trainer we went with for Harvey (our older dog). What a difference, our harvey is sweet as pie but not exactly and obidience champion. Rex doesn't even seem to konw he has a leash on him, he walks right by your side everywhere we go. He ahs gotten sit, down, give, leave it, take it nice, and wait in just the past four days. Can you believe it? Well of course you can, that is why you breed these little guys. Sweet and smart - could there be a better dog? Rex is sleeping with my son every night, but he loves the whole family. He is so great and I didn't think it was possible but he is getting more cute every day.
....Amy W.

From the Gilroys: Hi - the puppy is well, 7.5 pounds at his last vet visit. Eating up a storm and happily playing with all of us. Loves the squeaky football I just got him and played fetch with me all evening. Seems to know the game! Re-discovered his bark, and using it effectively to signal time to go out. Smart pup! All the reasons we went to such lengths for a cockapoo. Having fun exploring his new backyard. Still can't believe we named him Bailey without knowing your family name! Meant to be, I guess! Thanks!

From the Borsaris
:  We are totally and completely obesessed with our guy.
You had told us that he'd be about 25 pounds and you were right on the mark. He's feisty, happygolucky and really lovely. Sidles right up tou, puts his forehead on your knee and hangs his head upside down for you to pet his neck and ears. Frankly, he's not the least bit picky as long as you've got your hands on him - he's happy!. He seems to shoose me for the cuddling (loves to haul himsel onto my lap or just collapse onot it irf sitting on the floor) and my husband for the rough housing and tennis ball chasing. Loves chasing tennis balls! Loves running around the house like a total lunatic, squeaking his toys over and over and over and over. Needless to say, late at night and early morning the squeaky toys are hidden away! Jack is such a good little friend - as I write this he is lying on the floor at my feet, and as I got up a moment ago to answer the phone he wokr up and followed me into the kitchen. We're still not used to him following us around everywhere but we certainly don't it one bit. He never lets us too far out os his sight, and he stays pretty close even when off-lead. He seems to enjoy learning and has mastered five obedience training classes along with entry-level agility. He obeys hand signals, stays for long periods of teim, like in a "down" during all of Easter dinner at my inlaws house - and is tremendous with children. Our 13 month old niece was playing with him and he was very gentle with her and kept an eye on her as she crawled around. Everyone loves Jack without exception - the entire staff at the obedience school, doggie day care, vet, groomers - all have told us what a great dog they think he is. A definite favorite! Once we were at the cet's offcie and the doc was in the middle of a sentence, explaining something to me when he looked down and Jakc and exclaimed "you are the CUTEST thing!" - and then continued where he left off.... Of course, we think the same thing but it never fails to fill ou hearts when someone else says it. Jack is a very very special dog. Thank you for allowing him to come into our  lives. We are better for it. .....Stephanie and Michael Borsari

From the Kalter Family....Dear Lucille,  Buddy has been with us for fourteen months now, and he acts more and more like a person every day! He has a great personality and is so cute. He is also very very smart. When he he wants something he will take your hand with his paw and will put it near what he wants. He will also, take the leash when he wants to go outside. He goes in the cage when we find out he's done something wrong by himself. Buddy spends most of his day looking out the dining room window. All the neighbors know him and love him and when he gets off the leash during a walk he goes directly home and waits for us on the patio. He gets along great with almost every dog in the neighborhood exept for the ones he doesn't know yet of course, and his cousin Big Old Max. Lucille, can you please answer this one question for me? How does he always seem to know what I'm thinking? .....

From Amy......Lucille, Just wanted to give a quick update on Rex, our pup, since we went to the vet. ..... I told him that his mom was CERF registered and OFA certified, and his dad. He was so impressed. And everyone fell in love with him at the vet office, even though he was asleep most of the time, since it was the day after he flew in. His personality is really coming out. What a little stinker! He is a real wild child, and my son loves it. Our other dog on the other hand, not so much. He is still a little shy of Rex, even though Rex chases him all through the house ready to play. He is chewing everything he can get his paws on. But we have so many doggie toys all over that he usually gets his paws on something that is okay to chew. He is sleeping through the night pretty much. Every other night or so he will wake up once to go potty, but that is about it. We are working on the housebreaking, slowly but surely. Well, just wanted to give you an update, and thank you so much for this little spitfire! .... Amy

From Dena.... T our surprise she turned out to be a perfect lady and hasn't taken over as I had braced myself for.... she is a typical, delightful puppet whom we call "Muppett" She is very smart and has a wonderful personality and disposition. You were right when you told us she was a "lover" - she is just a dear. Thank you so much for caring so much - the end result is a blessing shared by all.

From Michelle
- Shyann is a great dog. We took an 18 hour car trip to Texas for Christmas and she was great. My in-laws are not animal lovers so I was worried about Shyann being a normal puppy and jumping on everyone but she never did. Even when my college roommate came over with her children. She is very gentle. Don't get me wrong - she can hold her own with my daughter! She is potty trained and the bells on the door helped a lot. She rings them whenever she wants to go out.

From Amy..
...Lucille, Okay, I promise I won't write every couple weeks for the next 15 years, but I wanted you to know how much we have fallen in love with little Rex. He is so much fun, and loving. He talks to us, I swear! It isn't that annoying barking I was afraid of, he has a little voice! He doesn't bark unless he has something to say, and then it's more growl and grunts, it is the cutest thing you have ever heard. He is doing so much better about potty, I think he is better than our older dog. And he goes right in his crate on my son's bed every night and doesn't make a peep. I love our shih-tzu, but I have to say I wish I would have known about cockapoos a few years ago. Don't tell Harvey (our shih-tzu) I said that, but he loves Rex about as much as we do. I didn't believe I could spoil two dogs, but here I am. I'm not sure Rex can be spoiled though, although he loves us to pieces, he is more than happy to go do his own thing in the corner playing with his toys. Now the dog's toy box is as big as my son's. Well, just wanted to let you know how happy we are with Rex, if you ever need a reference for anyone, just let me know.

From Cindy - Hi ! Koko is 8 months now, and the center of our lives!! She was the star of the class in "puppy kindergarten" and is now also the star in "puppy middle school". She's the most amazing creature we've ever met, and the cutest thing on earth.

From Larry.....
Hi Lucille,  Thought I'd give you a brief update. Hope that you are well. Sunny is doing great, and my dog owner friends tell me that Sunny might just be the perfect dog. She is sweet, playful, just baout house trained, doesn't cry or whimper. The kids love her and are good with her. She's greowing very fast, now about 17 pounds - was only 7.7 pounds when we got her. She is playful and smart - loves to play with kids and other dogs. So far she's just great. Thanks for your help. People stop and ask us about Sunny and where we got her. I've referred a couple of people to you ......
Take care, Larry

From Susan..... Lucile, an update on the Kansas Tornadoes! They are some pair... and we and the Cikaneks love them dearly. Whenever possible, we get them together so they can play. We're amazed at how much they are alike even though they are from different litters. Shandy is taller, lnger and thinnner, and Chrissy is stockier but not a whole lot shorter. Shandy weighs 19-21 poiunds, depedning on the day. I think the Cikaneks said that Chrissy is about 21-22 pounds. The two absolutely love each other. We hope to get together with Goldie (V from Plainville) but we haven't been able to do so just yet. I hear that she is doing great and is about the size of Shandy also. Shandy continues to adore people and animals. She met her first "pet bunny" at the Easter egg hunt the other day, and was in heaven. She was very good with the bunny (who was also on a leash) and just enjoyed sniffing her out... the  bunny was veyr nonchalant! Yes, I get compliments everyday from our customers who come in... some even just come in to see her! Problem is, she thinks everyone who comes in, is coming to see her! She is definitelly spoiled! Anyway, I just thougt that you would like an update....  I can't believe she will be a year old in April. It's gone so fast. I am hoping for many more with her. Thanks again for such a fine dog.

From the Richmond family: Dear Lucile, Abby, our new little addition is doing great! We've had her for 2 weeks now and she gits intou our family perfectly. As you said she enjoys running around with the kids and just cuddling in the evening. I've never seen a puppy that loves toys so much. Last Friday I took her to school to meet my daughter's second grade class. Abby was great - she loved all the attention. We ended up visting 4 other classrooms, the teachers had fallen in love with her so. She's such a joy to have in our home. Sincerely, Kris R.

From the Janecko family.
... Dear Lucille- just a note to tell you how wonderful Molly is doing. She had her Doctors appointment yesterday 3/23. She is now 6.4 pounds. The vet feels she will be about 8 or 9 pounds (same as what you said). She is doing just great!!! Here breakfast of choice is now cheerios and banannas.  She has totally caught on to housebreaking and going outside- the only thing is she doesnt bark to go out- she very "quietly" stands and looks at the back door.... so we keep a good eye on her.... Bailey still wants nothing to do with Molly-but we keep trying. Lucille, I want to tell you again just how much we LOVE Molly-you sent us a wonderful dog-she a special part of our family and we love  her dearly-I tell anyone who asks, if you want a dog like this you are the only one to go to-thank again.  Much love, the Janeczko family...

From Sharon
... she's doing absolutely great! The vet says she is fine and doing great. Have her 80% little box trained but I had to take out the dogiie litter as the pellets were too big for her at the beginning. So I just put newspapers in the box. This morning she woke m up about 3am to go potty (susually does once a night still). By the time I got downstairs she had already finished doing "both" in her litter box! She's learned how to "sit" on command. She goes up and down the stairs but she doesn't like to go down the steps and kind of "growls" to herself the whole way doen. You don't need to worry -she's definitely got a good  home with people that love her like crazy!.....  Sharon

From Leah
.... Hi Lucile, I thought I would finally contact you and tell you how wonderful our little Cooper is!  He is absolutely beautiful...honestly the most beautiful pup I have ever seen.  He now weighs a whopping 13 pounds at 13 weeks!  His paws are enormous and clumsy, and he is just precious.  While he is still not allowed out in the street because of the many viruses lingering there, he has learned to walk on a leash and he will sit, come when you call him, stay, and he jumps up and gives you five when you ask him.  Dan and I are totally smitten, and we want to say thank you for our little cutie.  I will be sending you a picture when I download them this week.  Take care.
Leah

From Herman and Nancy:
Hi Lucille. We have so enjoyed our Lucy that came to us via the airlines, last May.She has turned out to be the most enjoyable pup we have ever owned. She trained so easy for us ,did very well with her obedience and cage training. And she has fit into our lifestyle wonderfully.Even took her on a 3000 mile trip in car when she was 4 months old.She never gets into things and is a calm natured little dog.We take her to the doggie park and she just has a ball with 20 or more little friends. What a pleasure she is for us.and thank you for making this possible. Pretty cute ,our Lucy B., she will be one year old on March 2

From Denise:
Dear Lucille, Just an update for you on our trip with Bachik to the Nursing  Home.  We dressed him in a little Santa suit, hat and all, and in we went.  We no sooner stepped into the lobby when we were enveloped by a crowd of people, mostly employees, who couldn't get over how cute he was!  After visiting for a bit with them we began our journey visiting door to door.  The first room in which we were asked into was that of a woman lying in her bed.  She said that she absolutely loved dogs and thought Bachik was so cute and sooooooooooooo soft. Well this little doggie snuggled right up to her in her bed and just lied down to be pet!  We stayed there for a while and it was onto our next friend.  Room after room this little doggie was eager to meet each new person with all the enthusiasm that was within him.  What a delight it is to our hearts for us to be able to share with others the love that this little Cockapoo is so ready to give!
Thanks again,  Denise

From Jill :
Hi.  I just have a second, but I wanted to update you on our puppy.  My kids and I drove up from B'ham, AL about 1 month ago and brought home an 11wk old, black and white cockapoo.  My kids named him "Rowdy" on the trip home.  (He wasn't very Rowdy then though.  He was quiet the entire ride and didn't have an accident the entire 4 hour trip.) He's been to the vet twice for shots and is very healthy. At his last visit he was 7.5lbs.  The vet confirmed your estimate of approximately 20lbs. full grown. After 4 weeks here, Rowdy is pretty much housebroken.  He is not entirely crated as I teach all day and cannot get home to take him out.  While we are at school he stays in a toddler type gated pen in the kitchen with a piddle pad.  This past week he has not needed the pad all day!  The pen gives him a little room to play and doesn't force him to wet his crate if he can't hold it that long yet.  The kids take him out to play in the yard as soon as we get home.  He is such a bundle of fun!!  (You weren't kidding about toys either.  I've never had a dog who played with them so much.  It's hilarious to watch him wrestle his stuffed octopus!) As for training, Rowdy is an exceptionally fast learner.  At 15 weeks, he already sits on command reliably and comes when called - except when he's chasing our cat... (He thinks it's a game; Abby the Cat finds it annoying.)  We don't let him off the leash outside the fence, I don't think he's ready to come reliably with all those distractions yet.  Although he's not a 'barker', we are working on the quiet command.  That is taking a little longer. He has also mastered 'drop it', 'bring it back', 'go in your house' (the crate), and 'go to the kitchen'.  He never required much leash training.  Having been around dogs my whole life, I am very impressed with Rowdy's willingness and ability to obey.  He has a mischievious streak, but there's not a stubborn bone in his body. I see dog therapy work during summers and holidays in our future. I could not have asked for an easier dog to train! Thank you for your efforts to produce healthy, smart, and personable family dogs.  This one is just what we were looking for. I am so glad we were able to bring Rowdy home.
From Shawna: Hey Lucille! Just wanted to let you know how GREAT Buster is doing! I am getting some pictures together to send to you so you can see how much he has grown just in the past 2 weeks. After that, I'll try not to be like a proud new mama and send you pics every two weeks! I will wait at least until he is 6 mos old.... Everyone LOVES this little boy. I walk into the Vet's office, and he is automatically taken out of my hands and loved on, I have had so many people ask if he was real since he looks just like a stuffed animal. He has NOOOO fear of other dogs at the vet. He is especially comfortable around dogs that out weigh him 75 pounds to his 2.5 pounds! He is doing just great around the kids and seems to have taken to his "daddy" awful quickly. He will find an article of clothing (usually sweat pants) that my husband wears, and bury himself in it and sleep. He also sleeps with his little head INSIDE my husband's house shoes. No one else's...just his. And if he whines when going into his cage at night for sleep sleep time, I just stick my husband's yucky house shoe on the outside of the cage against it, and he is fast asleep in seconds! Now if THAT isn't love, I don't know what is! He seems to be picking up on the housetraining very quickly. We have had him for 2 weeks, and I would say 7 out of 10 times, he goes to the back door and whines or licks the door until we let him out! He is also learing to fetch. He is learning about the leash now. Not very fond of it, but that is because he has had two weeks of being a free spirit! Shawna
From Deb - Hi Lucile, Just wanted to update you on our pup. We love her and so does everyone that sees her. We often get the comment that she is the "cutest dog" thay have ever seen. She looks like she was a stuffed animal that came alive.... kind of like the Pinocchio story for dogs! Every child's wish for their favorite stuffed toy to be alive! We love her, our vet thinks she is a sweetheart and she has stolen everyone's heart (even non-dog lovers). We had her groomed today and she has a beautiful red coat. We love this pup and she is a sweetheart! We feel like it was a blessing in disguise that the original purchaser could not take her. Another prefect match - we shoiuld call you the Birdwalk Matchmaker. Thanks!! De W., MN

From Debbie
- Good morning! Just had to tell you how happy we are with our new puppy Tucker. He is wonderful! Healthy, happy, smart, sweet, evertyihng we were hoping he would be. he was worth waiting for. Thank you, We will be sure to refer people to you who are looking for a cockapoo. One funny note - we were getting ready to take our chocolate lab Bailey for a walk and put the leash on her. Tucker grabbed the end of her leash in his mouth and proceeded to "walk" her all around the house! It was hilarious - especially the look on Bailey's face. Thanks again, Debbie N.

From Denise
- Dear Lucille, Just wanted to let you know that Bachik was accepted into the pet therapy program we spoke about last week.  The woman who evaluated us thought he was sooooooooooooooooo cute!  Where did you get him? she asked.  I asked her if she didn't notice his Tennesee accent.  We (my two children 8,10 and Bachik) will be beginning our pet therapy program at a local nursing home next month! Thanks to you.  Denise MacD.

From Dave and Django
-
Hi there - Django is doing just fine. He's got personality to spare, he's a real lover ... he especially likes to be chased, he's very fast and strong. He jumps easily up on the tailgate of my 4wd pickup which is over 3 feet high. Oh by the way, he's quite a bruiser. He wieghed in at 45 pounds 3 weeks ago, and stnads 22 inches at the withers. You were right about bone structure, he's a sturdy one. His nose meausre a whopping 1.5 inches across! Not including hair his front paws measure 2.5 inches wide. Big old deep bark... he's WAY cool..... Dave  (webmaster's note - Dave wanted a giant cockapoo... he's got one! check out Django's pic on the alumni page.)

From Susan - Lucile, our puppy arrived safely, and she is beuatiful! I love her personality, and shaggy coat. She is very well behanved.... very loving but very playful too. We're just wild baout her We've named her Maggie - the name seems to suit her well. I too her to the vet yesterday for a chekcup... everything was fine. No worms, very healthy and your vaccination records were very complete.....  I was very pleased with your service and with the quality of the puppy. My sister is considering a cockapoo but I will definitely recommend your kennel to her. Thanks again for all of your help. Maggie's going to be a wonderful addition to our family! Susan C.

From Wilma - Muffin has won everyone's heart. She is now fully paper trained comes when you call her. Stays in her crate at night. Did take her to the vets and she seems pleased with her.... She has a great time running after the cats as she has found they have tails. Misha still plays mom and Feonia plays big sister. She is called Muffin, My grown sons call her Muffin of Camalot I have know idea where it came from. I can never thank you enough, you have allowed me to fill my home again with joy and laughter. My grandaughter says she is a little goof.  All I can say is thank you again. I will keep you informed on her progress and send pictures as she grows.
Wilma D.

From Carol - She (Goldie) is a cutie (of course)!   She arrived in Wichita in great condition. The Delta employees in Wichita had taken her out of the carrier and feed and watered her. They also got in some play time. A crew of four Delta employees were sad to see her go. They had such a great time with her. She was outfitted with a new bed, collar, leash, chew toys, gold bone tag and ample supply of puppy food from Pet Mart.  She slept on the 3 1/2 hour ride home. Our yellow lab's expression was "what have you done to me-----a puppy". They are getting along really good. Our little boy keeps saying "my Goldie". I guarantee you she will lead a "golden" life. We love her!!!.Thanks!!
 Carol V.

From Stephanie - Jack has been with us for 7 weeks, now, and at 16 weeks is quite a little bundle of energy! He's very sweet and affectionate and has bonded with us well. He sleeps through the night, now, in his crate (well, until around 6 most mornings, anyway) and we have seen terrific success in housebreaking.  He seems to be teething now, and likes to sneak in a quick nibble on fingers and toes (he especially likes toes!) when he can. He's doing great on the leash and we're having a grand time playing fetch and Chase Me. (We take turns on who gets to be chased!) We took him to puppy class for 4 sessions where he met other dogs and had play time, and where we learned the basics of leash training and a few other helpful things. Jack constantly had the class in giggles, because he was about 1/3 the size of all the other pups (labs, dobermans, retrievers etc) but was definitely the scrappiest! There was no one in the class who dominated Jack -- he'd stand on his hind legs, batting his front paws in the air with this very  scrappy bark, bark, bark, and all the other dogs seemed to know that he was small but quick and tough!   He's running up the stairs just fine, and just last week mastered going DOWN, which he does very delicately, and with one back paw at a time. It really is very endearing. Everyone thinks he's just so adorable -- and he really is, with that tail that just doesn't quit, his floppy ears and sweet, sweet face...  .. it's very funny to watch him run and jump -- he likes to get a running start and give a giant pounce to get to his toys or people's toes. We just love him and are thrilled to have him in our life. Life has definitely changed for us -- married just going on 2 years, we've been very much foot loose and fancy free and so this has taken some adjusting. But, we watch a whole lot LESS tv, take many more walks in the park, see much more of the mornings (boy do they start early!) and laugh a lot.  Pictures at 6 months will follow, as promised!  .....Stefanie B.

From Fran. .. Hi Lucile....just a note to tell you how absolutely happy I am to have my little cockapoo doggie.....I named her Angel as you might recall.....and she is worth her wt. in gold to me. I have the Angel shop here and all my customers are crazy about her. She is so sweet......she barks when they first come to "warn me" and plays with everyone who will pay attention to her. She probably weighs about 5 1/2 lbs now I guess...is probably full grown. She is the love of my life and I thank God for her every day ......and thank God that I found you guys. She gives her love unconditionally to everyone who comes by. Hope you and your husband are doing fine and all your animals are doing great also. Thanks again for my little Angel Girl........Fran L'O.

From Mike. .. A Sam update-----He is doing good. He has become a real buddy ! He is very mischievous, but in a fun way. I have never left him alone in the apartment. He goes with me everywhere. He sticks his head out the window and away we go! Some people don,to know my name. I'm the guy with the little brown dog! He drives me crazy with the squeaky toys. I was put on earth to throw them for him. You did good with this one. Mike

From the Paules... The puppies are just doing great.  I can't tell you how delighted and surprised we are with their learning.  I'm convinced it's not the dogs who need the training, but the trainer. Once we think it out and figure out a plan, they respond like champs.  We were having a problem with them not coming and tugging two and three times on the leash before they'd come.  And without a leash, they'd only come now and then.  So, we brought out the treats!  Now we walk them with no corrections, except when they get to the end of the retractable leash.  We call their name, make eye contact, give a tug and they come running, knowing a treat might be there.  This has resulted in them walking much closer most of the time.  But still they have freedom.  And they come verbally without a leash when they're playing (might take a little more time, but they do it).  We figure over time we can shorten the leash to move into heel.  And they "sit" like nobody's business. Housebreaking is doing very well. Last weekend we took them to the lake for a little swim, and they did great.   This weekend to the mountains and some fishing! Misty has become more of a lover, wanting to snuggle, and loving the brush.  And Joey's picked up on being a retriever.  Now, they need to take turns.  Of course, he's a pretty big guy, outweighing her by more than 2 pounds, but they're both growing like crazy. Yesterday on a walk in the neighborhood, a woman stopped her car and asked to pet the puppies (of course, everybody thinks they're delightful).  As she played with them, she said we were really lucky.  I told Roger and we both agreed, this is not luck.  They're great as a result of a lot of hard work, intelligent and caring breeding, and yes, some loving and caring parents.  They're a fair amount of work.  But they're more than worth it.  They're terrific! Thanks for bringing a lot of joy into our lives!  The Paules family

From Susan ....Hi,  Just wanted to let you know that everything is going well with Shandy. She is so much fun and absolutely loves people, children, babies and other animals...very sociable! So far we have learned to sit, shake, lay down, roll over and ring the bell, but we haven't perfected the art of potty training or teaching her to come on command! :) We'll get those down in the not-so-distant future.  Shandy is the "Main Attraction" in our small town. Word of mouth has spread that I have a new puppy, so about every 30 minutes, Monday thru Friday, someone (or some other dog) is coming in to the newspaper where I work to visit the new puppy. She loves it, but I don't get much work done! The bank in town called the other day and wanted me to bring her over so everyone could see her. After I got there they insisted that she do her tricks for them, so in front of about 20+ people she went through her repertoire and performed it to perfection...everyone was so impressed and think she is the cutest thing they have ever seen.  In fact, one family is so impressed they would like to have one like her. I told them about you folks and added that I would write you and ask what you might have available either now or in the near future. He is an attorney in town, and on his way to the courthouse, it has been his custom the past five years or so, so cut through the newspaper and give the dogs in here a
dog biscuit. He was really fond of my first cockapoo and is also really impressed with Shandy, so I think he is convinced a cockapoo would be good for his family...his wife and daughter feel the same way.  Thanks so much for such a great dog...I'll continue to keep you posted. Susan

From  Cathy    Lucile, I got my little cockapoo Simon from you Dec. 6 of 1999.  I am so very happy with him.  Simon is a light buff and adorable.  His temperment is perfect...he is perfect with all our visitors, adults and children alike. Thanks! Cathy

From Lynne and Larry G.: Hi Lucille -- Just got home from Crossville tonight at 8 o'clock PDT.... Had a great visit  and saw your beautiful Birdwalk Farm. I was ready to move to Tennessee right on the spot after seeing it! I couldn't have done better on these two little darlings if I had made them myself!! They are perfectly perfect! Larry and I love them to death. They travelled very well. No problems. The first night we stopped at our hotel, they cried for a few minutes. I was so afraid they would wake the neighborhood that I placed the travel crate on the bed beside me and talked to them and let them lick my fingers while we all fell asleep and slept through the night. We are all home now...and want to send a big thank you for making Mommy and Daddy's lives complete. All four of us have bonded now and I think they truly love being with us. Thank you so much for planning the birth of my two "daughters". I thought I would cry when I first saw them. My husband, I noticed, was just as choked up as I was. All the way home he had the rear view mirror turned so he could watch everything they did. I wanted to save the travel crate for sleep, so we fixed up the back seat with a throw rug (for in between potty breaks) and I had piddle pads for them when I thought they needed them. Casey is very predictable, but with Cassidy we had a tougher time, although they both used the pads religiously. One accident in 2700 miles. That's nothing! They're so lovable and so intelligent. They're easy-going and they seem to love affection. I can't begin to tell you how happy you've made Larry and me. Although it may have seemed crazy to pick them up, I am so happy we did. We all seemed to have such an easy time bonding while travelling. I believe they came home with a wonderful start to their new lives.... Thanks So Much. Lynne and Larry G.

From Buddy and Sue :     Just thought I'd give you an update on Buddy.   He is a whopping 3 lb, 13 oz. as of Monday.  The vet gave him a clean bill of health.  He is a sweet, adorable pup who is coming out of his "shell."   ha! I'm thinking it would be nice to put him back IN once in awhile!  He keep us busy with his hilarious antics.   While "helping" me water flower pots, he discovered that good, cold water is refreshing and now MUST have a drink from the hose EACH time we go out!   He lays on his back and has to be dragged in if he doesn't get a drink! :)   Overall he is a wonderful, cooperative puppy with a great appetite.  We can tell he is a smart dog and is learning quickly.  He has always slept through the night without a mess or a squeal.  We have even gotten him up to let him potty outside....but he won't wake up, so we just leave him alone now.   I am home all day, so I am diligent with taking him outside.   He's had a couple of accidents, but I think he's beginning to "get it."      He is very patient and nothing seems to bother him.     Thank you for working with us to find just the right puppy.  I will send you pictures as Buddy grows and becomes a "man!"  :)
Sincerely, Sue

From Buster and family: Hi Lucille,   Don't know if you remember me but I got a male Cockapoo from you in
May  of 2000. I remember you telling me his litter was born on March 7,2000 so  Buster just celebrated his first birthday. In honor of this I wanted to give  you an update on his first year. At 12 months he is about 7 lbs so he is  little and exactly what we wanted. > He is the best dog around. Everyone who meets him wants one. He is very  obedient and has learned many tricks which he can do on command. He loves to  run and play but at the same time likes to sit in your lap to be loved. He  barks when someone comes to the door like he is this little tough guy, its  too funny, but when the person comes in he just wants to be loved by them. He has a great temperment and my kids just love him. I wanted to thank you again  so much for this wonderful dog.       Sue L.

From Charlie and family:  An updatre on our "wonderful" Sparky at 6 months and 20 pounds!   We love him to death.  He is so stinking smart ...... and beautiful.......and sweet!  He's everything we asked for and more.  Everyone who sees him flips out over him and want one just like him.  This is not just family and friends who comment on him.....It's strangers we meet at the Vet's, walking down the street and at the pet shop.  People who see him who have had a Cockapoo say that he will be the best dog we will ever own and to take good care of him.  One lady pulled photos of her departed poo out of her wallet and said she will never have a dog as good as that one. He has developed so quickly.  Every morning he grabs my hand when I pick up my keys and pulls me to the door......he wants to ride in the car to take Alexa to school......When Charlie leaves the house he says....Sorry Sparky but you have to go in your crate and he just walks in there and lays down.   He sits at the back sliding glass door when he needs to go out......he always goes to the side of the house where we have the rocks that he does his business in and has not made ANY mistakes in so long we don't even remember the last time.  He usually sleeps at the foot of the bed......sometimes on the floor next to the bed.  When he gets in the bed he turns the covers down for us and then goes and lays in his spot at the foot of the bed.....We laugh at his antics all the time. Well, what more can we say.  He has truly "taken over" as you said he would.   The cat even tolerates him!  Sparky Rules !!!! Charlie, Bonnie and Alexa Green

From Nancy:   Hi Dan and Lucile - I just wanted to give you an update on Lucky (born 5/29/00). She is doing  just great!! She is now about 7 1/2 months and about 10 lbs. I was happy to see that your estimate of 10-12 lbs was right on the money!!!  She has been sleeping outside of her crate for about 1 1/2 months with no accidents from the start. She never had accidents in her crate either. Oh by the way she never had an accident even the first night that I had her. She just insists on going outside, no puppy pads for her! She still spends time in her crate when I have to  leave her during the day. She spends a lot of time at my office (everyone just loves her of course) and a lot of time in the car with me. Since I am a Realtor I spend plenty of time in the car! She has a little crate in the car also. Her training has been a breeze!  From the day I picked her up at your place in July (she was only 7 1/2 weeks) she would follow me around and if I stopped walking she would automatically sit!!! I decided to take advantage of that from day 1  and every time I would stop walking I would say "sit" at the same time and of course she would sit!!!  In a couple days, before I even left my sister and brother-in-law's house in Knoxville to fly back to Denver, Lucky was sitting on command! Imagine the surprise of the obedience trainer, not to mention the rest of the class, when little 2lb Lucky already knew that one when the 8 week class started. Of course everyone was asking where I got her. I told them that I searched the country for her and after one bad experience and about 6 months of searching I found Birdwalk Farms of course! She now knows sit, lay down, come, stay and shake. My 6 and 7 year old niece and nephew live near by and just love her. She chases them all over their yard. She plays with a lot of dog friends too. Most of them weigh 50-80lbs more then her. She has not been afraid of them from the start. I can't thank you enough - she is just a great dog. I never thought that I could be so Lucky to have another dog as good as Allie, my 15 1/2 year old cockapoo that had to be put to sleep in 1999 but I do and her name is Lucky! Sorry for the long e-mail but wanted to let you know how Lucky was doing. Attached is a picture of her from yesterday after being to the groomer. Sincerely, Nancy Denver, CO

From Diana   I got a Cockapoo from LucilleBailey at Birdwalk Farms in Crossville, TN.  His name is Higgy and he is the
best. He has been healthy and has a beautiful disposition.  Birdwalk gets my vote for breeders.  Check out their link on the NACR.  I am sure they would ship. I saw the place and the pups are clean and well cared for.  Conditions there are very nice.  I drove 3 1/2 hours to get there and I was not disappointed.  Good luck.  Diana W. & Higgy

From Pauline:   Lucile, Just want you to know that I am in LOVE with my new little boy.  He is a dream, so good and smart.  He has slept through the night the past 2 nights and I had to get up this morning to see if he was still with us.  He slept until 7am.  I had been awake since 5 waiting for him to get up.  He is so mello, Judith is so jealous of him.  He was in for his California check up this morning. and passed with flying colors. I wanted everyone to know how wonderful he is.  We named him Cody.  Had a long list of names and came up with an entirely different name.  (Now if I can only remember it, and that he is a boy .)  Thanks again for my new LOVE, Pauline

Excerpt from Cathy M. : I got my 10 month old cockapoo Simon from Lucile.  Simon came by Delta Air Cargo on December 6th, 1999. Lucile went out of her way to get him to me as I was so anxious for him to arrive.  Simon is buff and now about 7 lbs.  He has the greatest disposition and loves everyone in the family.  I never have to worry when guests comes because he is just the most lovable little fellow.   Simon has brought such joy to me!  Lucile's breeding resulted in this wonderful puppy...its obvious she cares about the pups a great deal!

Excerpt from Kathy: Hi everyone, Coky is home in Phoenix... and what a sweetheart he is. He arrived at the San Diego airport yesterday afternoon. From there, we drove straight to Phoenix with a few pit stops for us. He didn't have to
go! I held him for the whole trip home. When he wasn't looking out the window, he slept...such a cuddler! We let him stay up a little late, so he could play after his long trip. I cleaned out his airplane carrier and let him sleep in it next to our bed. He whined for about a minute, settled down, and slept thru the night without a peep. We woke him up at 7:30 to let him out. His carrier was clean and dry! He's been playing most of the day. My daughter is nuts about him and he follows her everywhere. We have his crate set up in the family room. He's settling in....he is such a beauty and we are very grateful to you for  all the extra care you give the  pups. It sure shows!! You breed great dogs. He is beautiful and charming.  Kathy  and - Dear Mrs.Bailey,  Thanks for Coky. He is adorable! He follows me every where I go (almost). My mom will take pictures of Coky and send them to you. I could tell that you took very good care of him. I will take EXTRA good care of him for ever. Since I am going back to school soon, Coky is going to pick me up (with my mom, of course. Dogs can't drive). Thanks again, Cassandra

Excerpt from Judy    Hi!  She arrrived safely and is just so sweet! ....  Thanks so much she is just what we wanted and is doing  great!  She has not peed or pooped in the house at  all. We tried having  her sleep in the crate the first  night but she didn't like it at all - very determined - so now she sleeps on the bed with us!  Yes, we're  going to have one spoiled puppy but a good one.  Judy Connelly

Excerpt from the Wymans, owner of Sadie : Sadie is doing very well!  She did adjust to her puppy crate pretty easily.  She is also doing well with outside bathroom trips.  She is actually pretty calm for a puppy, I think!  Maybe I'm just remembering how our golden retriever was as a puppy.  She had mega energy.  We are really enjoying Sadie!!

Excerpt from Carol D. owner of Meka: Lucile and Dan (Birdwalk Farms) asked me if May 20th would be  okay for Meka to be shipped to me. I was thinking "Wow, the time I have been waiting so long to be  hearing is soon going to be happening."  Lucile shared this with me about Meka. I have to share this with you ...   Lucile said: "gotta tell you about your little freak this morning  she is in a crate about eye level to my bed. when I woke up this  morn she was the only one in the end of the crate close to me -  laying there gently mouthing the wire of the crate and staring at  me. when I stared back she got up and walked to the other end of  the crate and plopped into the pile of puppies facing away from  me - then looked over her shoulder to see if I was still watching  her. Then she looked away and looked back out of the corner of her  eye again.  She's gonna be FUN!"   A really good friend of mine said this:  "She sounds just like her sister. A mischevous spirit that is just one  surprise after another. How many breeders do you know that have their  new puppies sleeping beside them?  It is no wonder these dogs love  people so much.  They have just had such a terrific start from the  absolute very beginning."  I had expressed worry .. and Connie said "Don't worry about Meka  being little and leaving her first home. You will be amazed at how  resilent these guys are.  She will probably bounce right out of her  crate and into your arms.  They just seem to love life and everything  in it."  Love ya all,  Carol D. of Maine
(Webmaster's note - Meka did indeed have her flight to Maine on May 20, and arrived safely with no after effects at all -she is very happily and cozily loving life on the Maine coast.)

Excerpt from Tricia, owner of Rinze:   We got our wonderful dog Rinze from Lucile. She told me that she often felt  that male dogs were "family dogs" and females took more to one person. Rinze  is definitely a family dog - I have 3 sons and a husband!  He loves everyone  although he favors me and my oldest son who spend the most time with him
(of  course!!).  He has been a great family dog.  Tricia

Excerpt from Kelly - new owner of Lucky   Lucile,  A HUGE THANKS for bringing so much joy into our lives so quickly!  Lucky has  already proven to be the best thing I've done for myself ( as well as the > kids) in a long time!  I can't believe how well he has assimilated into our  home.  Even Cuddles, my daughter's Chow/Golden Retriever Mix seems to be  enjoying her new playmate.  I am very proud of Cuddles, she has been very  gentle and patient with Lucky and his antics.  Jordan has adjusted very well.  He takes his new responsibilities very  seriously.  Lucky has already seemed to learn that Jordan is his "master" and they spend lots of time together.  Lucky is even sleeping at night very  well in his crate - no whining! - Wonderful!! I can't get over how much he's learned in just 1 day.  He can get on and off  the couch, up the stairs, knows where his food and water is (although likes  to attempt to get Cuddles - but learned very quickly that was a no/no.).  We've even had moderate success in the potty area.  I am thrilled!  How can such a little guy bring so much joy!  Thanks again. I'll be sending pics soon to get our webpage up!  Kelly D.

Excerpt from Ron Andrews - owner of Bailey : "He's a total ball of soft, cream colored fur. Everywhere we go people go absolutely crazy over him. Even the vet goes wild when she sees him. she always takes him to show him off to the technicians and anybody else who happens to be around - and its quite a large veterinary hospital. For a little guy with short legs, he can sure move like a streak of greased lightning. I have never seen a dog make ninety degree turns before, but I swear he does!  Forget about catching him when he's venting all that pent up energy - he lets us "catch" him when he wants to be picked up, which is any time we'd like to hold him."

Excerpt from Patti Aldridge : "Macey made it home! The Vet said she looks good....she is perky and bounces around.... she is very well behaved and already won the hearts of everyone who sees her! Casey was laughing, crying and has not stopped smiling since I got home yesterday!  It was well worth all the e-mails, money, trip etc... you have helped to make one girl very happy!  She and Macey slept in the same room last  night and Macey slept thru the night, without a peep! Lets hope she does the same tonight, since it is my turn!   I will send you updated pictures, and please let me know if you need references....I don't think it is too early to say that this little Cockapoo has wiggled into our hearts! Thanks again...."

Excerpt from Sue, new owner of Buster:   "I couldnt believe I was actually buying a dog over the internet, as it is  taking a risk, but this puppy is perfect!!!!!!!!!!!   We had a golden retriever puppy years ago when our  kids were toddlers and we ended up having to sell him when he was 7 months because he was just way too hyper and just  too much, but Buster is perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better puppy if I had picked him out myself. The kids love him and he is great with them.  Thank you so much...   I took Buster to the vet today and he made out great..... I got the registration forms. Thank  you...     if I know anyone that wants a cockapoo I will surely  recommend you!!!!!!!!!! .... Sue

Excerpt from Stacy, new owner of Nelson:   Lucile, He's perfect!  We are all in love.  Not only is he gorgeous but he has a great personality.  He loves his 'people' as much as we love him.   He has had many visitors, coming to see our new baby, and they all want one!  I think he's very smart. He has had no accidents inside his crate and just a few in the house.  He is already getting stronger and bigger.  By the way, his name is Nelson.  The vet will be checking him out tomorrow.  My son is already placing his order for another offspring of Sue Bee's.  My kids will be sending you a picture of them with their baby brother as soon as I remember to get them developed. Thank you for choosing the perfect pet for our family.   Stacy
